ReSTARt and The New Year: Also known as Inspiration Part 1

I've been putting a lot of thought and work into my business lately. Even with all of the amazing clients and work I've had I've been considering taking a big step back and looking at what I am really creating with my photography. I think most other creative minds understand that while you are improving your work constantly it can become difficult to convince yourself that you can keep improving and that you are creating something meaningful. It becomes very easy to get discouraged and that is when your work begins to suffer. You need to believe that you can keep developing and you are creating beautiful work that people appreciate.

Jasmine Star recently hosted her first session of ReSTARt on CreativeLIVE (which I sadly was only able to catch small bits of!). What I did see however has inspired me to continue with looking at my business and to keep working and to keep going. So over the next few weeks I will be following her assignments and other CL sessions as well as some other personal posts on what inspires me and my work. At the end I'm hoping to put together a stylized shoot that will encompass everything I feel creatively and wholly describe myself as a photographer and what I have developed my business into. It may also result in some logo and website changes. I know it seems like I'm always changing my logo! Just working toward perfection ;)

So to start! Here are the three words I have chosen to best describe my business, along with a selection of my work that I feel fits these words and the feeling that I am looking to create for my photography business.

Luminous
Alluring
Sensitive

I always appreciate feedback throughout this entire process. I'd also love to hear the three words you would choose for my business, so please feel free to comment.

Family Time: The Tuckers

You've already seen darling little Lyla, but my last weekend in Alaska I was able to spend time with the whole family. Katie and I have been friends so long and I always enjoy my time with her. It is so amazing to see how her family has grown. There is so much love and strength within them and I love that I could be there to capture every minute of it.

Newborn: Nathaniel

I had the pleasure of photographing Roni and Zach's maternity photos back in September while in Seattle. I've known Roni for many years as she was one of my first clients for senior portraits, and meeting her new husband Zach was wonderful. This session wasn't expected until March but I was overjoyed that I was able to meet little Nathaniel as a newborn! It was well worth the drive to see this sweet little family again. They are so sweet and full of love. It means so much to me that I was able to take these photos for Roni with our history together. Nathaniel is absolutely adorable and I'm sure you will fall in love with him as much as I did! Editing some of these brought tears to my eyes, nothing could be more special than to be there to take these for such a dear and true friend.

Thank you again for letting me be there to capture the sweet and true love of your family Roni and Zach (and Nathaniel!)

Anniversary: Toni&Mitch

Toni and Mitch are recently reaching 3 years in their relationship, and who doesn't need an excuse for pictures? These two were an absolute pleasure and are wonderful together. We were also lucky enough to have some fresh snow and sunshine! They are a beautiful couple and were absolutely radiant. Plus who doesn't love a couple thats fun enough to have a snowball fight? Seriously, what a blast!
Toni and Mitch, thank you so much for letting me have such a great afternoon with you and I hope for great things in your future with you two! ;)

I've become slightly obsessed with her tattoo, it is beautiful! Love all the color brought in with this couple. Such bright little love birds!

Family Time: The Stuckeys

This is one of my favorite families, I just adore them! Trish is a good friend and always wonderful, her family is such a blast and I always find myself laughing with them. I look forward to seeing them every time I come back to Alaska, who wouldn't want to see this great looking family!

Holi Powder: A Little Winter Fun

I've been holding onto this holi powder for a while now and have gone through several ideas and dealing with the crazy weather I didn't think I was going to get a chance to use it. But after a cancelation I quickly posted on Facebook and wound up with to models in the morning for a short but Awesome shoot!
A HUGE thank you to Alysia and Andrea for getting up and out there with me, it was crazy, cold, and they had no notice but they absolutely rocked it. It was just time for a little fun and these beautiful girls, who didn't even know each other, just got out there and went for it. I am so happy with their shots and it was really a blast.
Thank you so much girls and enjoy these fun and colorful pics!
